西田ひかりはフランス生まれ、現在はフィンランド・ヘルシンキを拠点に活動するビジュアルアーティストです。
彼女の作品は、実験的な出版活動やコラボレーションプロジェクト、アーティスト主導の取り組みを中心に展開されています。自身が立ち上げたThe Temporary Bookshelfは、アーティスト出版物を紹介するプラットフォームで、トークイベント、ライブラジオ、パフォーマンス、フードアート、インスタレーションなど多様な形で発信しています。
また、ヘルシンキで開催されるアートブックフェアUnder the Leaf Art Book Fairの企画・運営も行っています。
Hikari Nishida is a visual artist born in France and currently based in Helsinki, Finland. Her work evolves around experimental publishing practices, collaborative projects and artist-run initiatives. She established The Temporary Bookshelf, a platform distributing artist publications through various forms of events including talks, live radio and performances, food art and installations. The Temporary Bookshelf is organizing a book fair in Helsinki, called Under the Leaf Art Book Fair.

Hikari curates art book events in Helsinki, discovering and introducing new publications. The scope of her Temporary Bookshelf project has grown more diverse over time, and I always find her latest activities exciting. Her flexible and fluid nature draws in many artists, creating a space where deeply personal projects can interact organically. She often inspires me to print and make more books!

ひかりさんとは、今回一緒に推薦を受けた浅沼弥沙さんからの紹介で知り合うことができました。初めて話した時彼女は、パソコンの画面越しにヘルシンキの冬の午後の光に包まれて微笑んでいた。東京で直接会うのが楽しみです。
I was able to meet Hikari through Misa Asanuma, who was recommended alongside me by her. When we first spoke over a video call, she was smiling, bathed in the winter afternoon light of Helsinki. I’m excited to meet her in person in Tokyo.
