paper companyはキュレーターの岡田翔さんが運営されている出版社です。「読む展覧会」というコンセプトで、図録などを多く手掛けられています。図録が展覧会の二次的なものになるのではない在り方を考えられ、本を出版することと展覧会とが面白い関係を生み出したキュレーターならではの視点で本を作られています。また作家やキュレーター、デザイナーなど関わる人たちを並列に扱う姿勢から、自ら作家側の思考も持ち合わせていて、役割をオーバーラップしているところが、とても共感できる点です。
Run by curator Sho Okada, paper company is a publishing house that crates many catalogues under the concept of a “readable exhibition”. Rather than viewing catalogues as mere supplementary to exhibitions, it seeks to explore an interesting relationship between the two, producing books through a curator’s unique lens. Furthermore, by treating artists, curators, and designers as equals, and with Okada’s artistic perspective, the roles within the creative process fluidly overlap—something I find very relatable.
