UTRECHT（ユトレヒト）は、2002年オープンのブックショップです。インディペンデントパブリッシャーやアーティストが自ら制作・発行する、国内外のアートブックを中心に、一般書店では目にすることの少ない書籍を販売しています。店内にはギャラリースペースNOW IDeAを併設しています。『TOKYO ART BOOK FAIR』の共同開催や、出版活動、海外のインディペンデントパブリッシャーの国内流通など、さまざまな本にまつわる活動を行っています。
UTRECHT is a bookshop that opened in 2002. We mainly sell art books from Japan and abroad, especially those produced and published independently by artists and independent publishers, including titles that are rarely found in general bookstores. We also have a gallery space called NOW IDeA inside the shop. We co-organise the “TOKYO ART BOOK FAIR”, run our own publishing activities, and handle the distribution of overseas independent publishers in Japan, along with various other activities related to books.

guse ars（グセアルス）は、東京を拠点に活動する村橋貴博と岩瀬敬美による２人組のアートプロジェクトです。海や川に漂着する陶片を採集し、それを創造の種として作品発表、アートワークの提供、デザイン制作などを行っています。書籍に加え、プロジェクトから生まれたプロダクトタイルも販売中です。また、村橋貴博はコラージュワーク、岩瀬敬美はドローイングワークなどソロ名義での活動も並行しています。
guse ars is a two-person art project by Takahiro Murahashi and Satomi Iwase, based in Tokyo. We collect ceramic fragments washed up on the shores of seas and rivers, and use them as seeds for creation in our artworks, commissioned artwork, and design projects. In addition to books, we also sell product tiles that have grown out of the project. At the same time, Takahiro Murahashi also works under his own name on collage works, and Takami Iwase on drawing works.

guse arsは村橋貴博さんと岩瀬敬美さんによるアートユニットで、出会ってから15年程経ちます。彼らの代表的なプロジェクト「Washed Pattern」は、浜辺や川辺で見つけた陶器に残された欠片の模様を用いて新たなパターンを作るというもの。それらにユニークな命名をし、図鑑のようなZINEを作り続け、数年後には磁器質のタイルとなりました。彼らのタイルはやがて欠片となり新たな模様として生まれ変わり、それは永遠に繰り返されるのでしょう。ユニークな想像力と創造力で、この壮大なプロジェクトは着々と静かに進んでいます。またソロプロジェクトも空想力が爆発していますのでぜひご注目を。
guse ars is an art unit by Takahiro Murahashi and Satomi Iwase, and we have known them for about 15 years. Their representative project, “Washed Pattern,” creates new patterns using fragments of patterns left on ceramic pieces found on beaches and riverbanks. They give these patterns unique names and continue to make zines like a kind of catalogue, which after some years have also become porcelain tiles. Their tiles will eventually become fragments again and be reborn as new patterns, repeating this cycle endlessly. With their unique imagination and creativity, this large-scale project continues to develop steadily and quietly. Their solo projects are also full of imagination, so we highly recommend paying attention to them.

I run a book label as an artist, creating works using letters, paper, and books as materials and themes.
I handle not only editing and design, but also bookbinding myself.At the same time, I am working on the irregular and unconventional publication “Kyutai.” Twelve issues have been published so far.

立花文穂プロ. 立花文穂さんは、ユトレヒトをはじめる前からファンで尊敬する方で、TOKIOの出展にも快諾して頂き浮かれています。文字と紙、本を素材にした作品を主に、責任編集とアートディレクションを行う『球体』をはじめ、デジタルなものとは一線を画す、我が道をゆく頼もしい「広島のお兄ちゃん」と（心の中で）呼んでいます。立花さんが手掛けるもの、身の回りの道具や空間、たとえば淹れたコーヒー1杯までもがご自身のようで、人となりがすべてに打ち出されていると感じています。立花さんが発行するアートブックは、自身による編集とデザイン、手製本で完成された作品そのものです。
We have long been fans of and have respected Fumio Tachibana, even before starting UTRECHT, and we are very excited that he kindly agreed to participate in TOKIO. Working mainly with letters, paper, and books as materials, he is known for “Kyutai,” where he takes on full responsibility for editing and art direction. In contrast to digital work, he follows his own path, and we think of him (in our hearts) as a reliable “big brother from Hiroshima.” Everything he makes, as well as the tools and spaces around him, even a cup of coffee he prepares, feel like an extension of himself, and we sense that his character is expressed in all of it. The art books he publishes are complete works, finished through his own editing, design, and hand-binding.

guse arsとして初めての展示は、青山にあった頃のユトレヒトでした。それ以来、展示や商品のお取り扱いなど様々な場面でお世話になっています。いつもユトレヒトでは、他店では見ることができない国内外の書籍と出会うことができます。かっこよさと力が抜ける軽さが同居しているのが魅力です。
Our first exhibition as guse ars was at UTRECHT when it was still in Aoyama. Since then, we have been supported by them in many ways, including exhibitions and carrying our works. At UTRECHT, we can always encounter books from Japan and abroad that we cannot find in other shops. One of its charms is the balance between a strong, cool presence and a light, relaxed atmosphere.

かれこれ20年以上お付き合いさせていただいるのではないでしょうか。ブックフェアに無縁でしたので、ひとりブックフェアなるものをさせてもらったり、本を作るたびに展示をさせてもらっています。
I think we have known each other for more than 20 years now.
As I was not connected to book fairs, I have had the chance to organise my own kind of “one-person book fair” at UTRECHT, and to hold exhibitions there every time I make a new book.
