About TOKIO ART BOOK FAIR

TOKIO ART BOOK FAIR は、TOKYO ART BOOK FAIR（TABF）が企画する、新たなアートブックフェアです。これまでと異なる出展の形式や、コンパクトな規模ならではの取り組みを実施し、国内外のインディペンデント出版シーンや、参加者同士の交流をより活性化することを目指します。

「TOKIO ART BOOK FAIR」という名称には、本フェアをTABFのオルタナティブとしてではなく、パラレルな存在として位置付け、別の視点を導入すること、東京=TOKYOを別の角度から眼差してみるという意図が込められています。あえてブートレグ的な名称をつけることで、TABFのオルタナティブな側面を再定義し、多様な価値観が交差する雑多な魅力を表現します。

出展形式について

今回のフェアでは、出展者の公募を行わず、招待制の出展形式を採用しました。

出展形式

  1. TABFに出展経験のある20組を、
    運営チームがホスト出展者として選出。
  2. ホスト出展者が、ゲスト出展者2組を推薦。

推薦条件：

  1. ご自身の友人、または知人であること
  2. 出版活動を行っており、出版物を中心に出展できること
  3. 2組のうち最低1組は、過去にTABF出展経験がないこと

出展者それぞれの観点から推薦してもらうことで、国境を越えたネットワークや、ローカルな交友関係によって参加者が広がります。それぞれの出版活動がもつ独自の文脈や関係性を通して、新たな視点からアートブック出版の多様さを知る機会となることを期待します。

TOKIO ART BOOK FAIR 2025 is a new art book fair organized by TOKYO ART BOOK FAIR. By adopting a new format for exhibitors and taking on new approaches that are only possible at this small-scale setting, we aim to invigorate the independent publishing scenes both within and outside Japan, while encouraging exchanges among participants.

The name “TOKIO ART BOOK FAIR” embodies our intention to introduce a fresh perspective and look at Tokyo from a new angle, positioning the fair not as an alternative but as a parallel to the Tokyo Art Book Fair. We deliberately chose a bootleg-like name to redefine the alternative nature of the Tokyo Art Book Fair while capturing the fair’s eclectic essence, in which diverse values intersect.

About the Exhibition Format

This time, we are adopting an invitation-based format instead of calling for applications.

Exhibition Format

  1. The administration team selects around 20 groups that have previously participated in TABF to serve as Host Exhibitors
  2. Each Host Exhibitor recommends two groups to participate as Guest Exhibitors

Recommendation Criteria

  1. Must be a friend or be personally acquainted with the Host Exhibitor
  2. Must be engaged in publishing and be able to primarily showcase publications
  3. At least one of the two recommended exhibitors must be new to TABF

By having exhibitors recommend other exhibitors through their international connections and local friendships, the participant network naturally expands. Through the unique contexts and connections of each exhibitor’s publishing practice, we hope the fair will offer fresh perspectives on the diversity of art book publishing.
